Chairpersons Update
Two games left then we move into the semis. Man doesn't time fly when you are having fun! Our Premiers have been hit with a few injuries and Nathaniel and Jacob have NZ 20’s commitments this week, so when the team is named tomorrow don’t be surprised to see a different look. In saying that, all our guys are up to the task and know how important this week's game is to help lock down a home semi-final.
Last Saturday we had a massive night with Pomare’s celebrations and also the unveiling of our 17 banners to represent past championships we have won as a club. Be sure to check them out next time you are in the chook house.
As I said above Nathaniel and Jacob are off to Palmerston North today to go into camp for New Zealand under 20’s. Saturday they play the Wellington NPC team in Wellington, then fly out to Australia to play their U20’s twice before returning to Hamilton to take on the Cook Island Under 20’s. It will be a great experience and I am sure it will build their game and also them as young men. Enjoy it fellas and show them what it means to come from Tukapa. At Tuesday training we presented the lads with a Tukapa vest each and some Koha to help them out.
Our Div 1 boys have been quietly moving up the table and building into a strong finishing position, this week will be no different if they can beat Spotswood United, a team above them on the table they will keep moving up.
Our Colts had one hell of a game against Spotswood United last round and I reckon this could be the game to watch this weekend, I am sure both teams will be giving it 110% and wanting to pick up the Win.
The Senior Thirds are jumping on the Bus at 11.15am and heading to Toko. They have appointed a well-known 1st Five to be tour leader and are also hoping to see Jack Cameron take the field when they get there. We can say without question these boys are really enjoying their rugby and each other’s company. I am sure if you hang around at Tukapa Saturday night these boys will come into the bar and give you a play-by-play recall of their game. Go well Fellas #Chooks on tour.
Next weekend all our teams are at home against Coastal and our 3rds against Southern. This will be the last time for 2021 that all 4 teams are at home so we have decided to throw one hell of a party to celebrate a great Tukapa year.
We are joining forces with our Netball girls and we all know when both clubs come together it is a great night at the chook house. Book the babysitters, lock up the animals and head to Tukapa next Saturday night.
Update on Rangi
Rangi has been diagnosed with liver cancer and at this stage, it is isolated to that one area. Today he has been discharged from the hospital on some good pain medication, he will be at the team photos tonight and may come and watch the premiers Saturday but he is not out of the woods yet. For now, he will stay with his nephew, Jason in Hawera until finding out some more information Wednesday week. The plan going forward is to work out how much cancer there is and to come up with a plan for treatment from there. We all wish Rangi a speedy recovery and look forward to him joining the team as soon as he is able.
Ok time to get ready for the team photos tonight and we will see you all on the side-lines Saturday rain hail or shine, OH THAT CHICKEN
